Adiuto was originally built in response to practical needs in crisis and disaster management: coordinating help when needs change quickly and time is short.

Adiuto helps initiatives attract more useful support for their everyday work. People can find concrete needs, see quantities and drop-off locations, and commit directly. Teams can plan goods distribution and volunteer shifts and track what has been promised and what has arrived, whether for food distribution, clothing aid or other local support.

Reach more people, bring in more donations

Each additional initiative makes more needs and opportunities to help visible. That can attract more donors and volunteers, whose participation makes adiuto more valuable to further initiatives. This can create a strong network effect that also benefits small organisations. People discover relevant needs beyond their existing circles and can commit directly. Greater reach, easier discovery and concrete commitments can substantially increase donation volume and get more needed goods to the people who need them.

Why everyday use also matters in a crisis

Regular use connects teams, locations, supporters and current needs through a working process. This gives crisis response an existing structure to build on. In a rapidly changing emergency, there is often little time to introduce new software, establish responsibilities or organise a network from scratch. Initiatives already using adiuto can adapt their ongoing work to more urgent needs.

How does adiuto work?
adiuto brings people who want to give goods or time together with what local aid initiatives currently need. Initiatives publish their needs as Tasks, you look for Tasks near you and add them to your mission. You confirm the mission, and it is redeemed at the handover on site.
Who is adiuto for?
adiuto is for local initiatives, associations and aid organisations that collect and distribute donated goods or coordinate volunteers, such as food banks, clothing banks, refugee support, homelessness services or disaster relief. They publish their needs and so reach people beyond their existing supporters. Donors and volunteers find concrete needs near them and commit goods or time directly. In an acute crisis, adiuto helps direct donations and volunteer help quickly to where it is actually needed.
How do I donate something?
Search under “Tasks” for needs near you. On a Task, choose the quantity and — where there is more than one — the drop-off point, and add it to your mission. As soon as you confirm your mission, the initiative knows. Your donation is confirmed at the handover on site.
What is a mission?
A mission bundles your pledges — several donated items or a volunteer shift, for example — into one process that you confirm and redeem on site. That way both you and the initiative can see what has been pledged and what has already been handed over.
What is an initiative?
An initiative is an aid organisation or local group that publishes its current needs on adiuto and coordinates donations and volunteer help. Its Tasks describe exactly which items or activities are needed right now.
What are Tasks?
Tasks are an initiative's concrete, currently open needs: either an item that is needed, or an activity that help is wanted for. Every Task names the quantity needed and the drop-off point; once the need is met, it disappears from the search.
Do I need an account?
You can browse and look at needs without an account. For binding pledges and to manage your missions you need one. You can sign in with an email address and password or with your Google account. Registration is free.
What does adiuto cost?
adiuto is free for everyone: for initiatives and aid organisations as well as for donors and volunteers. There are no fees and no paid features. adiuto is a public-benefit platform and does not seek profit; we only connect donors, volunteers and initiatives.
How can I help with my time?
Besides donated items there are activities that initiatives want support for, often with fixed time windows or shifts. Pick a shift that suits you and pledge it. The initiative then agrees the details with you on site.
What happens at the handover?
At the handover on site, a QR code confirms that your donation or help has arrived. The initiative's need is updated automatically, and your mission counts as complete.
How do I register an initiative?
Use “Found an initiative” to create yours. You then add one or more drop-off points and publish your needs as Tasks. Newly created initiatives may be reviewed before they go live.
How do I manage my initiative?
As a coordinator you manage your initiative from its management page: create and edit Tasks and needs, maintain drop-off points, follow missions, and manage members and their roles. You can also tell the assistant much of this in your own words.
How do I export my initiative's Tasks as CSV or JSON?
As a coordinator or administrator, open “Manage” on your initiative's page and then “Tasks”. Above the Task list you will find “Export as CSV” and “Export as JSON”. CSV suits Excel or LibreOffice, JSON suits further processing in other programs. The export contains all of the initiative's Tasks that are not archived, including inactive and fully pledged ones, whatever the search, the filters or the current table page. You can also type “Export our Tasks as CSV” or “Download the Tasks as JSON” in the assistant. The download starts straight away. Without a stated format, CSV is used. If more than one initiative could be meant, the assistant asks which one you mean.
Notifications and push
You can be told about important events by email and — with your consent — switch on push notifications in the browser. Which notifications you receive is set in your account settings, and you can change them at any time.
How do I change or delete my data?
You can adjust your profile and settings in your account at any time. On request we delete or anonymise your data. Which data we process, and what for, is set out in the privacy policy.
How do I change the language?
You change the language in the footer at the bottom of the page. For signed-in users the choice is remembered in their account.
What can the assistant do?
Describe in your own words what you are looking for or want to do — “donate winter jackets in Berlin” or “found an initiative”, for example. The assistant finds matching Tasks, helps coordinators create and edit needs, and navigates you through the platform.
